Hello, Glenn Band Fans!
Good evening and welcome to an action-packed week! This week will mark the end of a multi-month journey of preparation for all of our band students. We hope that you will be able to join us at the Don Tew Performing Arts Center at Leander High School on Tuesday & Wednesday. Our students have worked hard for a long time for this event and we would love to have awesome parents like you in the crowd to hear the performances!
On Friday I sent an email out to families concerning the Solar Eclipse tomorrow. Having our students at school for their band class is critical for the success of our bands at UIL! Thank you for supporting the program as we head into Tuesday & Wednesday. I have included the email below in case you would like to read the content again.
Here's what's "on the radar" for the Grizzly Bands this week:
It's a major week for our program this week - we have been preparing this music for months and it all leads up to this moment!
Keep next Monday, April 15th on your calendar as well for our 2024 Marching Band Informational Meeting & Show Reveal @ 6:30 PM. This is required for 2024-2025 GHS band students plus one parent per family.
Be on the lookout for more information about a Spring Trip meeting coming up before our trip on April 18th; a final itinerary will be released to all families very soon.
Musically Yours,
The Glenn Band Staff
GPRs are a way to track of progress that the Grizzly Band is making every week. We don't get a chance to tell you about the little "PRs" that are being set all the time in our band program, and these little details go a long way. After all, "excellence is in the details"!
GPRs this week:
The Glenn Indoor Percussion wrapped up their regular season competition with a striking score of 90.05 at Cypress Ranch High School this past weekend. This is a remarkable score and a testament to the hard work of our incredible students, hard-working parents, and awesome staff. Bravo to our Indoor Percussion for continuing to uphold that "Excellence is Our Standard"!
GEMS NEWS
Coach's Corner
Hello Glenn Gems Community!
Please check your emails for correspondence from Coach later this week with any Gems upcoming news & events.
The band directors are seeking a few Gems to help us at our first-ever Young Artists Contest Finals on April 2nd. We would love for our Gems to join us at this event, where our best band soloists will be performing at the Don Tew PAC at LHS for the rest of the band students. We are specifically hoping that some Gems would be able to help us to pass out programs to our family members for this concert! Please let Mr. Fig or Ms. Muckleroy know if you would be interested in helping, we would love to see our Gems join us for this first-ever event!

Shine bright, Gems!
Evaluation schedules for this year's UIL have been released. This will be the first time that the Glenn Band will be taking THREE bands to the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation!
The full schedule is attached below. All performances will take place at the Don Tew Performing Arts Center (at Leander High School).
If you are able to, please join us at LHS for this event. This will be the capstone of many months of preparation, and we would love to see you there!
We will be participating in the "FitnessGram" on Thursday, April 11th. Gems will participate on either April 10th or 12th; Coach Thornton will communicate to Gems about when this will occur for the Gems.
Students should bring athletic clothes, comfortable running shoes, and water to their class for the FitnessGram.
This is a state-wide standardized evaluation of strength and conditioning. This evaluation will include pushups, sit-and-reach, jogging, and more athletic exercises.
We will hold the FitnessGram on April 11th, and a makeup day the following day if necessary. Thank you for reminding your students to bring their athletic clothes to school!
GRIZZLIES ON THE BEACH (Band Spring Trip) - April 18-21st
We haven't had a full-band spring trip in quite some time at GHS (since 2019, in fact). Our band students have earned some beach time!
Parents: this trip is a fun getaway for the kids where they will be staying in villas with a group of roommates. There is a lot of free time where the kids will be able to relax at the villas or on the beach! They will also be doing a lot of cooking at their villas as a group; this may sound scary but former students have had a great time on these kinds of trips. This is a favorite trip for other LISD bands and we're excited to finally offer this trip to our Grizzly Band!
Additional details for registering can be found below. Sign up today!
The Grizzly Band is beach-bound in Port Aransas/Corpus Christi!!!
Students, it's time to relax and enjoy the beach in Port Aransas! This is going to be a fun time to unwind and spend time together after our UIL performances. We'll be spending 4 days and 3 nights at the El Constante beachside condos where you'll be staying in resort-style villas with a group of your band buds! Seniors, you will also be getting a special senior golf cart outing!
