Dear Grizzly Band Fans,
We've had a great start to our 2022 performance season in the Grizzly Marching Band. Thank you to everyone who has come out to help us - no matter the task, every single parent and family member that helps us is an important part of making the "grizzly gears" of our band machine function and move forward.
I have important news and updates below, so please take a moment to read through these announcements. I look forward to seeing you at our next game - we're actively seeking help in our pit crew to help get all of our gear on and off the field!
Musically Yours,
Mr. Fig

Grizzly Band FAQ: Why Do We Have Stadium Rehearsals?
As you know, our marching band performs in stadiums throughout Texas (and someday soon, throughout the country). As we construct the calendar each year, we try to strategically schedule "stadium rehearsals" in large LISD football fields.
By having rehearsal in these spaces, the staff is able to address the band in an authentic performance environment. During these rehearsals we will take time to talk to the band about performance responsibilities in a large space, as well as adjust the volume and balance of our electronics equipment.
There are a LOT of moving pieces, big and small, to making our 2022 show come to life. These stadium rehearsals are especially critical for us as we aim to be our absolute best this season. While we had to change our original stadium schedule, this new schedule works to our advantage - for example, we will get the opportunity to rehearse in Gupton Stadium two times before we perform in the Vista Ridge Marching Festival at Gupton Stadium. This is a tremendous opportunity for us, so 100% attendance is critical at these rehearsals.

Full Uniform Protocols
Full uniform includes a few additional requirements:
The compression shorts are usually what some families have questions about. These are bike shorts or "under armour-style" compression shorts. These will be worn underneath of our marching bibbers. Students will have time to change into these after dinner on Friday.
Reminder - students do not wear shorts or pants under their bibbers. Compression shorts and Dri-fit tee will be worn underneath. This will help to keep students cool, prevent friction/chafing, and allow the uniform to fit properly.
Reminder - Region Marching Contest Date
March-a-Thon 2022 is Here!
We had an incredible "Boost Blitz" last week, where the band students raised an incredible $24,000 in one hour. Wow!!! As you may know, my deal was that if the kids raised $20,000 in one hour I would let Mr. Gall give me a "close shave" haircut, a-la-Mr. Gall. Well, the kids smashed that goal and I couldn't be more thrilled to be nearly bald.
As of tonight, the band students (and all of you) have helped us to raise nearly $33,600! Our fundraiser will continue for the next few weeks, and we will announce our big winners for the fundraiser during our Thursday rehearsal on September 22nd before our first contest. There is still plenty of time to help! Our goal is $60,000 and I am confident that we can easily pass this goal. Thank you again for your tremendous support, Grizzly Band Fans!
