A Big Week Ahead

Glenn Band Fans,

We have a big week ahead as we look at middle school night and our first competition on Saturday! Please remember that our schedule for this week is different than normal as we have our first stadium rehearsal tomorrow. Details are shared below:

This Week: Monday, September 19th - Saturday, September 24th

Major Notes: Stadium Day Mon - no rehearsal Weds - shorter rehearsal Thurs - contest Sat

• Tues, 9/20 --- Full Band, 4:00-6:00 PM
• Weds, 9/21 --- No rehearsal
• Thurs, 9/22 --- Full Band Rehearsal, 4:00-6:30 PM -- Wind Ensemble Clinic @ 7:00 AM
• Fri, 9/23 --- Football Game @ Bible (Middle School Night), Pregame Show @ 6:25 PM
• Sat, 9/24 --- Hill Country Marching Festival --- All day; showtime @ 6:45 PM

Celebrations

Last week was a big one for our program. Here are some of our big celebrations from last week:

• The Wind Ensemble performed a concert of half of our Seattle program after only a month of school. It was a wonderful performance and a huge step for our program.
  
  
• Our program designer, Jeremy Hunt, joined us at rehearsal to stage some big color effects with the band, specifically in the second movement.
  
  
• Our sound designer, John Kammerer, flew in to help with a total revamp and reset of our electronics and sound design for the show and program. You will hear a difference in the band this week because of his time with us. Special thanks to Frank Favacho for spending his weekend with Mr. Gall and Mr. Fig at GHS to put everything together to make this work.

Big Events: Stadium Day - Middle School Night - Hill Country Marching Festival

Details for our stadium rehearsal at Gupton on Monday from 5:00-8:30pm can be found on our calendar.

Wind Ensemble will be having an early morning rehearsal and clinic on Thursday with Mr. Mike Howard, Director of Fine Arts for LISD and former Director of Bands at Vandergrift High School. Rehearsal will begin at 7:00am; students will need to arrive by 6:45am to set up and prepare for rehearsal.

October & Band ("Bandtober")

All Texas band students (and families) call October "Bandtober" due to the schedule and challenges faced as we head into the most competitive part of our marching season. Our calendar is even more dense as we push towards the Seattle trip and Honor Band, Region Auditions, Region Marching Contest (Tuesday, 10/11) and Area Marching Contest (Saturday, 10/22).

It's going to be a busy October, but the hard work will be worth it! Keep October's calendar in view - preparation and planning is the biggest key for success as we head through the fall.

March-a-Thon Week ONE Results (Sept 3rd-8th)

Week one was huge for our fall fundraiser! Everyone did a great job and we split our major sections into three teams:

Team Brass, a.k.a. " The Travis-tys"

Team Woodwinds, a.k.a. "The Un-Fig-ivables"

Team Percussion & Gems, a.k.a. "The Bald Ea-Galls"

Week one saw us raise a total of $33,974!

The Bald Ea-Galls raised.... $6,045!

The Un-Fig-Ivables raised.... $13,688!

And The Travis-tys raised.... $14,189, and won the BLITZ BREAKER TROPHY FOR WEEK ONE!

March-a-Thon Week TWO Results (Sept 9th-15th)

Week two lost some steam as we had a busy week, let's keep up the energy as we head into the ending weeks of our fundraiser!

In week two, we raised a total of $4,795!

The Un-Fig-Ivables raised.... $745!

The Travis-tys raised.... $1325!

And The Bald Ea-Galls raised.... $2,725, and have won the BLITZ BREAKER TROPHY FOR WEEK TWO!!!
