A Very Special Celebration
Glenn Band Fans,
This past Saturday was very special for the Grizzly Band as we brought home the first "Grand Champion" title in our history. We are so proud of our students and our entire band community for reaching this milestone. It was AWESOME to hear and see so many family members and Glenn Band Fans in the stands - you really helped to bring our show to life, and the kids fed off of your energy!
As a recap, here is what the Glenn Band earned at the 2022 Hill Country Marching Festival:
We are thrilled for these honors, and the show isn't done yet - we have much more to add and improve on as we head into "Bandtober". As we add more, we'll continue to seek more volunteers and help - please join in to help your Grand Champion-caliber marching band.
Musically Yours,
Mr. Fig

About the Vista Ridge Marching Festival ("Finals Contests")
Texas marching band contests are usually divided into either "single-show" contests or "prelims/finals" contests. Last week at the HCMF we experienced a single-show contest where each band had one shot to perform their show. This week we head to Vista Ridge, where our competition will be more steep. There will be a lot of strong band programs performing!
This show begins early in the morning and finishes the Prelims contest in the early evening. The Finals for VRMF will include 12 bands total. We have built our schedule with the intention of being a finalist band - the competition will be strong and we will need to really put our best effort in this week to be our best!
UIL Eligibility Takes Effect Tomorrow
With the end of our first grading term (the "first six weeks") on Friday, any student that has failed a class for the grading period will be ineligible beginning Tuesday, 9/27. Students are still required to attend rehearsals, but they may not participate in games or competitions. Please email Mr. Fig with any questions.

We'll be posting more information about this throughout this week, but please join us at Bible Stadium next Tuesday evening for a community performance. We would like to "show and tell" more about the show, to give you insight on what we are doing to help make our 2022 show feel truly "live and in living color".
More info will be shared this week!
October & Band ("Bandtober")
All Texas band students (and families) call October "Bandtober" due to the schedule and challenges faced as we head into the most competitive part of our marching season. Our calendar is even more dense as we push towards the Seattle trip and Honor Band, Region Auditions, Region Marching Contest (Tuesday, 10/11) and Area Marching Contest (Saturday, 10/22).
It's going to be a busy October, but the hard work will be worth it! Keep October's calendar in view - preparation and planning is the biggest key for success as we head through the fall.
