WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS!
Hello, Glenn Band Fans!
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first-ever Chamber Concert & Indoor Percussion Community Performance. We hope that you enjoyed this new type of concert, and that you were able to see our Indoor Percussion live as well! We know this was a hectic day, so thank you to all of you for helping to make this weekend a success.
While I wish we could say that we have an easy week ahead, last Friday was a good warmup for WGI this weekend!
I'm sorry to pester about parent volunteers. We are in a unique situation since we will be missing a huge amount of our normal parent and student volunteers on Saturday - they will be with Indoor Percussion in Dallas.
We are pretty close with parent volunteers. Here are the remaining parent volunteer needs we have for each shift:
- Saturday Morning: 6 more spots
- Sat. Afternoon: 8 more spots
- Sat. Evening: 8 more spots
- Sun. Morning: 4 more spots
- Sun. Afternoon: 5 more spots
That's all! The band directors will be making phone calls this week to try to secure volunteers - thank you in advance for giving your time to help!

"GPRs" (Glenn Personal Records)
GPRs are a way to track of progress that the Grizzly Band is making every week. We don't get a chance to tell you about the little "PRs" that are being set all the time in our band program, and these little details go a long way. After all, "excellence is in the details"!
GPRs this week:
INDOOR PERCUSSION TAKES FIRST PLACE @ SECOND TCGC SHOW!
This past Saturday the Glenn Indoor Percussion brought home First Place at their second TCGC (Texas Color Guard Circuit) contest with a score of 77.25! CONGRATULATIONS, INDOOR!
FIRST EVER MATTRESS SALE A SUCCESS!
We had a very solid result for our first-ever mattress sale. At the end of the day several extra items were sold, and a total of TWENTY ONE mattresses! Thank you again to everyone who shared the fundraiser over facebook, text, or social media, and especially to anyone who decided to purchase a mattress!
We are already talking about ways to increase our outreach for next year. The great thing about this sale is that we are only asking our families to get the word out (and of course to purchase a mattress if you need one). Thank you again for your support!
FIRST ANNUAL GLENN BAND CHAMBER CONCERT
Last Friday we hosted our first-ever Chamber Concert, which featured a total of 30 small group performances across three rooms. Each room featured some truly wonderful music-making. Congratulations to all of the performers, and thank you parents for coming out to this new type of concert.

Hello Glenn Gems Community!
This weekend, the Glenn Gems completed our second hip hop piece, choreographed by Mirezha Guevara!
Congratulations to Eryn Michlowitz for representing the Glenn Gems with her solo, “Bo’i V’shalom,” at the Vista Ridge Dance Championship this past Saturday!
This week the Glenn Gems will continue refining our choreography and technique in preparation for our Inaugural Glenn Gems Gala on March 23rd!

BAND PARENTS - SEEKING CONCESSION DONATIONS!
Band parents,
This weekend a huge part of our show is going to be selling concession. Each year we ask for donations, and in the past this has meant asking you to make another trip to the store for supplies. BUT NOT ANYMORE!
This year we are saving everyone the trip to Costco/Sams/HEB and instead asking for a direct $$ donation to the Glenn Band store. 100% of these donations will go towards our concessions stand.
Here are some examples of donation amounts:
- $5-10 = one case of water bottles
- $20 = one case of soda or chips
- $30-50 = one case of candy (prices vary by candy type)
Our expected total concessions supply cost is around $1500. Every dollar helps! Thank you for any amount that you are able to contribute.
SAVE THE DATE: WGI @ GHS: March 1st-3rd
WGI is a MASSIVE event that we host every spring. This event takes ALL of our band community to make a success! Please save this weekend in your calendars; there is a need for everyone to help in some way (both students and parents).
Last year @ WGI, the Glenn Band utilized
- More than 130 Parent Volunteers
- Every band student (more than 120 volunteers shifts covered)
This year's show is EVEN BIGGER than last year, so we need EVERYONE to jump in to help! Don't worry, no experience is required. Mark your calendars now!
GRIZZLIES ON THE BEACH (Band Spring Trip) - April 18-21st
We haven't had a full-band spring trip in quite some time at GHS (since 2019, in fact). Our band students have earned some beach time!
Parents: this trip is a fun getaway for the kids where they will be staying in villas with a group of roommates. There is a lot of free time where the kids will be able to relax at the villas or on the beach! They will also be doing a lot of cooking at their villas as a group; this may sound scary but former students have had a great time on these kinds of trips. This is a favorite trip for other LISD bands and we're excited to finally offer this trip to our Grizzly Band!

The Grizzly Band is beach-bound in Port Aransas/Corpus Christi!!!
Students, it's time to relax and enjoy the beach in Port Aransas! This is going to be a fun time to unwind and spend time together after our UIL performances. We'll be spending 4 days and 3 nights at the El Constante beachside condos where you'll be staying in resort-style villas with a group of your band buds! Seniors, you will also be getting a special senior golf cart outing!
