2023-2024 Band Registration Day - Tuesday, May 30th

• Required for band students and a parent
• 5:00-8:00pm in the Band Hall
• You will be able to turn in physicals, complete required documentation for GHS & LISD, get sized for gloves, shoes, etc, and a whole lot more!

May Concert TOMORROW - Monday, May 22nd

Our final concert of the year will be on Monday, May 22nd at 6:00pm in the GHS Auditorium. We hope you will join us!

What to Wear?

• Formal attire (tuxes and dresses)
  
• PLEASE BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES! Students will be checking in their dresses and tuxes and will not be able to take them home with them after the concert.

Concert Day Itinerary

• 5:15pm - Student Call Time @ GHS
  
• 5:30pm - Rehearsal Begins (Sym Band on stage, Wind Ens in Band Hall)
  
• 5:50pm - Doors Open
  
• 6:00pm - Concert Begins

Join us in the Union after the concert for a light reception!

Graduation Band 2023 - Friday, May 26th

The end of the year is here! Graduation Band rehearsals will take place all this week as we put together some music for the class of 2023!

What to Wear?

• "Business Professional" Attire
  
• When dressing business professional, you can wear tidy dresses, slacks, skirts, slacks, dark-colored suits and ties. Business professional tops include neat button-down shirts or blouses with a blazer. Business professional shoes include heels, loafers or flats. You can accessorize with minimal jewelry and belts.
  
• NO jeans, sneakers/vans.
  

Who is in Graduation Band?
Current Wind Ensemble non-seniors and invited members of the Symphonic Band from this year.

• All current Wind Ensemble students are required to attend this event.
  
• Invited Symphonic Band students will rehearse during this final week of school.
  
• We will have one full rehearsal on Friday afternoon before the Graduation ceremony.
  

Itinerary

• 12:15pm - School ends (early release day)
  
• 12:30pm - Lunch in Band Hall (lunch will be provided)
  
• 1:15pm - Rehearsal
  
• 2:15pm - Pack & Load
  
• 2:30pm - Depart for HEB Center
  
• 3:00pm - Arrive & Setup
  
• 4:00pm - Ceremony Begins
  
• 6:00pm - Ceremony Ends
  
• 6:30pm - Arrive Back @ GHS for Parent Pickup

2023-2024 REGISTRATION DAY IS TUESDAY, MAY 30TH FROM 5:00-8:00pm!

• Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for this important evening.
• This is a "come-and-go" event; it will not take 3 hours to complete the registration tables!
• If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email Mr. Fig and we will get you in touch with the boosters!

REMINDER: Calendar for 2023-2024

At their January 26th meeting the LISD School Board approved the school calendar for the 2023-2024 academic year. You can find the calendar at the "Board Brief" listed here.

With this in mind, we have begun planning the dates and times for next summer and fall. These can be found on our Google Calendar at GlennBand.org. Please note that these dates and times may change and changes will be communicated to families and posted to the Google Calendar.

Summer Band 23-24 Overview

• Leadership Training Camp (leaders only): Monday-Tuesday, July 24-25
• UPDATED: Percussion Camp: Monday-Friday, July 17-21
• Summer Band Week 1 (FULL BAND): Wednesday-Friday, July 26-28
• Summer Band Week 2 (FULL BAND): Monday-Friday, July 31-August 4
• Summer Band Week 3 (FULL BAND): Monday-Friday, August 7-11
  
• Summer Band & First Week of School: Monday-Friday, August 14-18

**Some events, like Festival of Bands, rehearsal calendar, and stadium dates are still TBD from LISD. Some events may also be subject to change based on local contest calendars. I'm very confident in the above contest dates, please start planning now!

Summer Band Rehearsals & Contest Day Notes

As with all Texas high school bands, please plan for your student to be at all of the above events. Look ahead now for SAT and ACT dates, as well as for vacation planning. I'll be heading to my log cabin in Wisconsin in June for a while so that I can be back for summer band! Please begin planning your summer/fall calendars for travel and testing now - we are SO EXCITED for next year's marching season and a big part of our success is having 100% attendance!
