ANNOUNCING OUR NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS

The search for the new Associate Director at Glenn has been a massive search. We reviewed and selected our top picks from an extraordinary pool of applicants. After a lengthy process, I couldn't be more thrilled to introduce Mr. Zack Travis, and to welcome him to the Glenn Grizzly Band Staff. Mr. Travis is an exceptional teacher, musician, designer, and leader. He is going to be a remarkable addition to our team, and an exceptional teacher for our students. Please see below to get to know more about Mr. Travis - welcome to the Grizzly Band, Mr. T!

MR. TRAVIS - ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Zack Travis is heading into his 7th year teaching as a band director. He taught for 3 years at McCallum High School in Austin, TX as well as 3 years at John Horn High School in Mesquite, TX. With both programs he has achieved consistent UIL Concert and Sight-Reading sweepstakes and multiple trips to the UIL State Marching Contest. While at McCallum they were awarded grand champions at multiple contests, back to back Area D champions, and placed 6th at the UIL 5A State Marching Contest. At John Horn, they qualified for the 6A State Marching Contest for the first time in school history. While running the marching band programs at both schools he was also their music arranger, drill designer, and choreographer.

Prior to starting his teaching career in Texas, Zack attended West Chester University where he graduated with degrees in Music Education and Euphonium Performance. While at West Chester he performed in a variety of ensembles and worked with local high school bands. Zack was also very active as a teacher and performer in DCI. He marched with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 2010-13; serving as a baritone section leader in 2012 and drum major in 2013. After aging-out he taught on brass staff with the Boston Crusaders, The Cadets, The Cadets2, and The Buccaneers.

Zack spends his time outside of school with his wife Jolene; who is also a band director. Together they enjoy walking and taking care of their dogs Grover and Puff. Zack is excited to work with the team at Glenn High School!
