The GHS Band has A LOT of volunteer opportunities. Browse below to learn about things and reach out to the Boosters if you're interested in getting involved or would like more information!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

It takes an ARMY of parent volunteers to make the Grizzly Band work well and YOU would make a great addition!

Looking to volunteer? Consider serving on any of the below committees!

  • CHAPERONES [F] (oversee students while away from school)
  • FUNDRAISING [F&S] (coordinate various fundraising activities)
  • HISTORIAN [F] (take pictures of band activities)
  • HOSPITALITY [F&S] (feed the band members)
  • MERCHANDISE [F] (transport & sell band merch)
  • PIT CREW [F&S] (load, move & unload band equipment)
  • PROPS [F&S] (build & maintain field props)
  • UNIFORMS [F&S] (organize & clean)
  • SPIRIT [F] (coordinate send offs & decorations)

[F] = Mainly active during the Fall semester

[S] = Mainly active during the Spring semester

DETAILED COMMITTEE INFORMATION

  • Chaperones

    This committee of parents assists the Chaperone Chair by monitoring and supporting students at games, competitions, events, and out-of-town performances. Get to know the students up close and enjoy them!


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate in individual events as your time allows. This committee is most active during marching season.

  • Hospitality

    This committee supports our Hospitality Chair by helping set up, serve, and clean up when feeding our students before football games, at competitions, and events. Students love the parents who feed them during band! The committee also helps with special events such as the band banquet.


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate in individual events as your time allows. This committee is active throughout the year.

  • Pit Crew

    This committee of parents assists the Pit Crew Chair with loading and unloading the equipment trailers as well as moving props and equipment on and off the marching field. Also known to enjoy a party in the parking lot during their downtime!


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate in individual events as your time allows. This committee is most active during marching season.

  • Props Committee

    This group of handy and skilled parents assists the Props Chair with building and maintaining the visual props for Marching Band and Winter Drumline. Also known to party with the Pit Crew and have a great time building amazing props for our program!


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate as your time allows. This committee is most active before and during marching band as well as during the spring "Indoor Drumline" season.

  • Fundraising Committee

    This parent group assists the Fundraising Chair with planning, organizing, and hosting various fundraisers throughout the year. These parents are the superheroes of the program - without funding, we would not have a show!


    As a volunteer, you can assist with one or as many fundraisers as your time allows. This committee is active throughout the year with individual fundraising events.

  • Merchandise Committee

    This committee of parents assists the Merchandise Chair with planning and purchasing of band merchandise as well as selling it during games and events. Parents and community members love band gear and these parents help us show up and represent the program!


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate in individual events to sell merchandise as your time allows. The committee is active at various times with different purchases/sales throughout the year.

  • Uniform Committee

    These crafty parents assist the Uniform Chair with minor sewing and hemming needs, maintaining the uniform closet, handing out and collecting uniforms from students, and cleaning them periodically during the year. These parents keep our kids looking sharp!


    As a volunteer on this committee, you can participate in individual events as your time allows. The committee is active at various times throughout the year, mostly in marching season, and also in the concert season. They are called into action when uniform needs arise.

  • Spirit Committee

    This excited group of parents are the cheerleaders of the band program! They organize fan send-offs, visiting band gift baskets, and bring the noise to get the band parents and community on their feet.


    This committee is active mostly during marching season and at events. You can participate as your time allows. We encourage ALL parents to come bring the spirit for our program!

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION PROCESS

The district requires that all volunteers submit to a criminal background check. To do so, please visit the LISD Volunteer Services web site and complete the on-line volunteer application process. Applications are good for a year, however, you will not be notified directly when you are cleared. You may contact the volunteer coordinator at info@glennband.org if you would like to know your status.


LISD Volunteer Application steps:

  1. Go to: www.leanderisd.org
  2. Click on “Parents and Students”
  3. Click on “Volunteers”
  4. Click on “Apply to be a Volunteer”
  5. Select “New Volunteer” or “Returning Volunteer” and follow the steps

How to get involved:

  1. Make sure you've completed your Volunteer Registration Process.
  2. Make sure you have joined BandApp (if you have not, please reach out HERE)
  3. Sign up for Volunteer opportunities in BandApp as they become available!
